Reviews of POING: Giants of Jazz Jazzweekly This unusual Norwegian trio is doing interesting work off the beaten track. The unusual begins with the instrumentation ...and display considerable technical depth and breadth, as well as strong ensemble identity - Julian Cowley, The Wire Said and written about POING: Norway the Chinese Way Sounds like they should be playing table tennis but trio POING are music makers from . Not your average pianist, violin and cello, these guys are way out there with accordion, saxophone and double bass. And they're joining the Chinese Music Virtuosi for a heady get together with Piazzolla's Tango, traditional and contemporary Norwegian pieces, improv, and a specially commissioned piece by Dr. Chan Hing-yan entitled Whence the Wind Returns.
